So, after a super long evening of driving, I just had my first meeting with all the people at the Indiana University Geology Building. My initial thought upon getting to the meeting room was "Holy Shit am I really doing this?". Ha, I am feeling pretty intimidated right now about the work ahead. Though to be fair I can't really know what's in store. The books they handed out at the meeting are pretty comprehensive and fairly detailed on the Geology of the West. The head honcho should prove to be quite a character. He had a flannel short sleeve button up on with a ridiculous mustache to boot. Not to mention that he had on Sam Nellis type "pedophile glasses" you know the ones with huge lenses and the silver wire frame. The group I am traveling with seems pretty diverse. Happily there are about 5 or 6 people from the MD/DC area going. So in honor of this todays musical selection must be from Wale, my favorite and only successful DMV area rapper.

Wale - Chillin' featuring Lady Gaga.

The weather is pretty nice out in Bloomington. However, the sun is still beating down on you at 7pm which is crazy. A nice cool breeze does wonders to cool you down.

I am really thankful that due to a crazy turn of events last night, I left for Indiana earlier than 4am. This allowed me to watch the USA men's national soccer team soar to new heights. Not. After witnessing a historic 2-nil advantage at halftime, the men fell to Brazil 3-2. Big Bummer.

In other news, there is this old bike tire out back behind the Geology Building that legend has it has been there for a decade.

And lastly, there is an early candidate for smarty pants/ annoying question asker already in the group. In what was only a 30 minute meet and greet, this black haired woman managed to find time to ask 3 utterly unimportant questions.

I am off to somewhere in Iowa tomorrow. Not sure when I'll be able to update again but I will be logging entries until I can get back online.

Last Day/Night

Packing continues to be the never ending chore from hell. I have way too much stuff.

Hopefully, I will be done soon. I want to make it out to a party to say goodbye to all my friends here in DC.

Last day was pretty eventful went shooting with Ellis, Julia and her friend Emily. Glocks and Smith and Westons are a tun of fun to fire. Ha, I wasn't that accurate but boy let me tell you how crazy it feels to be unloading a clip on a Glock... bam bam bam bam it's some kind of crazy.

Anyways, I leave at 4am. I should get back to packing so I can at least get like an hour or two of sleep.

The last 48 Hours at home.

I have got a lot of packing still left to do before I am ready to load up the civic for the drive to meet the caravan in Indiana. I'm not exactly sure what the availability of the internet will be for the trip. So, I will probably write up my blog entries first in my moleskin before posting them when the opportunity arises. In addition to the co-ordinates, I also am going to try to post whatever music I am digging really hard at the time I think to make a blog entry. Hopefully, this will give a bit more insight about my mood. Though, to be fair, I listen to all kinds of stuff that may not really have any relevance to what is going on in my head.

Hopefully, I will be able to see all my friends before I roll out.

First Post

So, I head out to Summer Field in about 2 weeks. I plan on using this blog as a way to document my experiences. Some number of years ago, my uncle gave me a hand held GPS unit. I figure using the GPS would be a pretty neat way to add to the blog. Thus, my goal is going to be to put the co-ordinates of where I am for each post. This way any one that wants to can check out the spot on google earth or something.
